Trends in Metabolite Identification
Discussion Leader: Natalia Penner, Biogen Idec
Metabolism plays an important role in overall safety profile of a drug; therefore, regulatory authorities and the pharmaceutical industry have paid much attention to how and when the characterization of human metabolites should occur. Metabolite profiling and identification techniques have undergone quick development in the past decade and were discussed in numerous publications. This session will provide a historical overview of metabolism studies followed by an active discussion of the current state and future of this field. The goal is to sparkle discussion – during the session and afterwards! - about where are we going and what needs to be done.
